Whale Season Package at Sheraton Maui Resort & Spa

Experience the wonder of Maui’s diverse marine life during one of the most magical times to visit Maui – whale season. Sheraton Maui Resort & Spa is introducing a new seasonal resort package called “Dive into Maui.”

Available for travel dates between January 3 and April 15, 2018, the Dive into Maui package includes an array of ocean experiences that allow guests to interact with and observe Hawaii’s underwater world, home to vibrant tropical fish, honu (green sea turtles) and the majestic humpback whale. Whale season takes place from November through April, with humpback whales migrating to Hawaii to breed and nurse their young. Guests can often see these giant mammals spouting and breaching just offshore and from their guestroom lanai.

“Whale season is a special time to visit the island, and our resort’s location at Pu‘u Keka‘a (Black Rock) makes it easy for guests to enjoy ocean experiences like snorkeling and whale watching, while observing and learning about Hawaii’s marine life,” said Tetsuji Yamazaki, Sheraton Maui Resort & Spa’s general manager. “With this new package, we hope that guests discover the beauty of Hawaii’s underwater world and come away with lasting memories of their experience at our resort.”

The Dive Into Maui package features deluxe ocean front accommodations in the resort’s Hale Moana building, situated on top of Pu‘u Keka‘a (Black Rock) and providing an unrivaled view of humpback whales across Maui Nui Basin where their population is amongst the highest.

Upon arrival, guests will receive Sheraton Maui binoculars and the resort’s signature local s’mores kit featuring flavors of Hawaii, with fresh sliced pineapple, strawberries, bananas, chopped macadamia nuts, sweet coconut flakes, li hing mui sugar, Maui cookies, chocolates, marshmallows and graham crackers. Guests can relax and roast s’mores at the oceanfront fire pits while gazing through their binoculars for whale tale splashes.

Black Rock, which fronts Sheraton Maui Resort & Spa, was recently ranked the top snorkeling spot on the island in MauiTime’s Best of Maui 2017 awards. The package includes two sets of snorkel gear for one date of stay, two fish ID cards that can be worn while snorkeling for easy marine life identification, and an educational talk with Maui Ocean Center’s marine naturalists at the resort’s on-property Hawaiian Marine Life Hale, which is the best spot to learn proper reef etiquette, snorkel safety and information on the many sea creatures that live in Hawaii waters.

Two tickets to Maui Ocean Center, The Hawaiian Aquarium, are also included. Named one of the Top 25 Best Aquariums in the U.S. by TripAdvisor, Maui Ocean Center features a variety of Hawaii’s turtles, stingrays and thousands of vibrant tropical fish. It’s also home to the world’s largest collection of live Pacific corals, replicating thriving marine ecosystems in every exhibit.
