The Maui Jim Maui Invitational Champions

The Maui Jim Maui Invitational Championship between the Kansas Jayhawks and the Dayton Flyers kept the packed house at the Laihana Civic Center on the edge of their seats. The Kansas Jayhawks ended up pulling ahead in overtime against the Dayton Flyers.

A majority of the game stayed within two possessions with the Flyers going into halftime ahead of the Jayhawks 37-36. Ryan Mikesell scored 19 total points followed by Obi Toppin’s 18 points in the game.

The Jayhawks scored to pull ahead at the end of the game by three with a last second shot by Dayton to tie up the game. The Jayhawks broke away in overtime with a final score of 90-84.

Senior center Udoka Azubuike and sophomore guard Devon Dotson were awarded Tournament MVP. Both players scored career highs in the championship game with 31 points by Dotson and 29 points by Azubuike.
