Hyatt Regency Maui Celebrates its Seven African Black-Footed Penguins on World Penguin Day

On April 25, 2018 Hyatt Regency Maui aims to celebrate and generate awareness of the African Black-Footed Penguin, seven of which call Hyatt Regency Maui home.

Guests are invited to a special penguin feeding at 9:30 a.m. to learn more about these charismatic creatures, partake in penguin cookie decorating, take pictures with our penguin mascot, and watch as our seven playful penguins eat, swim and waddle around!

Hyatt Regency Maui is the only resort in the Hawaiian Islands with an on-site penguin habitat. This species of penguin is listed on the IUCN red list of endangered species due to a combination of threats they face in the wild, however they have successfully reproduced and reared six of the seven current penguins right on property at Hyatt Regency Maui.

The penguins are part of Hyatt Regency Maui’s wildlife program, which is home to a number of exotic animals including, cranes, swans, flamingos and parrots.
