Cal Poly Captures Big West Women’s Golf Championship Crown
LBSU’s Le Goes Wire-to-Wire for Individual Medalist Honors; Hawai’i Closes Out Historic Chapter in Final Big West Appearance
LAHAINA, Hawaii — Cal Poly’s depth and consistency propelled the Mustangs to the 2026 Big West Women’s Golf Championship title at Kā’anapali Golf Courses on Maui, edging UC Davis by six shots to claim the conference crown and earn an automatic berth into the NCAA Regionals. Individually, Long Beach State senior Madison Le authored one of the most dominant wire-to-wire performances in championship history, securing individual medalist honors after three rounds.
Nine Big West teams — a 45-player field — competed across three days on Maui for the conference title and automatic NCAA Regional qualification. Strong individual and team performances could also earn at-large selections for the NCAA Regionals.
ROUND ONE — SUNDAYLe Sets Tone with Historic 63; UC Davis Leads Team Standings
Long Beach State senior Madison Le seized the individual spotlight immediately, carding a remarkable 9-under-par 63 — the lowest single round in Long Beach State women’s golf history and the lowest round of the championship. Le’s opening performance put her atop the leaderboard, with Hawai’i’s Maline Kraus and UC Davis’ Vani Karimanal sharing second place.
In the team competition, UC Davis opened with a two-stroke advantage over both Long Beach State and Cal Poly, with host Hawai’i sitting in fourth.
ROUND TWO — MONDAYCal Poly Surges to Team Lead; Le Extends Individual Advantage
Monday’s second round, played with tee times from 10:30 a.m. to 12:40 p.m. HST, saw Cal Poly emerge as the team to beat. The Mustangs (+5) climbed to the top of the team standings with a two-shot lead over UC Davis (+7), while Long Beach State (+11), UC Irvine (+14) and Cal State Fullerton (+16) rounded out the top five. Host Hawai’i slipped to seventh at +22.
Individually, Le continued her commanding run, extending her lead to five strokes over Cal Poly’s Sarah Yoo heading into Tuesday’s decisive final round.
FINAL ROUND — TUESDAYMustangs Win the Title; Le Claims Medalist Honors
Tuesday’s final round, played on split tees beginning at 8:00 a.m. HST, delivered a commanding performance from Cal Poly. The Mustangs finished the 54-hole championship at +2, winning by six strokes over UC Davis (+8) to claim the Big West Women’s Golf Championship title and the conference’s automatic NCAA Regional berth.
Cal State Fullerton finished third at +9, while Long Beach State and Cal State Northridge tied for fourth at +12. UC Irvine rounded out the top six at +15.

END OF AN ERA: Hawai’i Closes a Historic 26-Season Chapter in the Big West
Beyond the championship results, this year’s tournament marked the close of a significant chapter in Big West history. Host Hawai’i competed in its final Big West Women’s Golf Championship before the Rainbow Wahine program transitions to the Mountain West Conference on July 1, 2026.
Hawai’i’s tenure in the Big West spanned 26 seasons across two eras — 1984 through 1996, and 2012 through 2026 — leaving behind a distinguished legacy in the conference. The 2026 championship on Maui served as a fitting farewell for the Rainbow Wahine on their home course.
