Ka‘anapali History & Legends Tour

Maui Nei Native Expeditions (Maui Nei) is a cultural and eco-tourism provider dedicated to sharing Hawaiian culture and Maui’s rich history with visitors and residents.  As part of that mission, Maui Nei is introducing a new tour that will expand its programs from Lahaina to Ka‘anapali in West Maui:

Ka‘anapali History & Legends Tour is a delightful journey back in time with Maui Nei storytellers who offer fascinating legends and local lore about Hawaiian myths and mysteries.  This two-hour guided walk is conducted at a leisurely pace with stops in the shade and at strategic places to sit. The first part of the tour takes guests along beautiful Ka‘anapali Beach to learn about ancient Hawaiian villages and early 20th century plantation life before the resorts were built. The second part is a stroll by scenic Ka‘anapali Golf Course greens to discover what was once cultivated there, and how warrior chiefs battled for supremacy across the land.

The Ka‘anapali guided tour is offered on Saturday, Sunday, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday at 8:45 am.  Introductory pricing is $46/person (adults and teens) and $23/person (kids 6-12 years).

Ka‘anapali Operations Association and Ka‘anapali Beach Resort Association endorse Maui Nei’s new tour as the official guided tour through Ka‘anapali Beach Resort. Complimentary Ka‘anapali Trolley service is available in the resort with stops at the hotels, shopping center and golf clubhouse, running between 10 am and 10 pm daily.

Maui Nei’s tour offerings also include:  Discover Old Hawai‘i, a half-day arts immersion program for those who wish to dig deeper into Hawaiian culture.  Guests get an interactive experience about a traditional way of life at Lahaina’s sacred places while making their own keepsakes.  Hands-on cultural arts taught by Native Hawaiian experts include bamboo nose flute making, printmaking with natural dye, kalo cultivation and poi pounding.  Lahaina History & Culture Tour, a two-hour guided walking adventure in the heart of Lahaina.  Guests go off-the-beaten-path to learn about pre-contact Hawai‘i, Maui chiefs and archaeological sites.  This tour explores the Hawaiian monarchy, early missionaries, rowdy whalers and plantation era in Lahaina, providing a connection between history and Hawaiian culture.
