Cinco de Maui, Hawaiian-style at the 23rd Annual Livermore Wine Country Festival

In partnership with NBC Bay Area KNTV, representatives from Kāʻanapali Beach Resort on the Island of Maui travel to the 23rd Annual Livermore Wine Country Festival to celebrate Cinco de Maui, Hawaiian-style, with chef demonstrations, Hawaiian entertainment and a trip giveaway.

Livermore

Taking place over two days, May 3 and 4, from 10 am – 4 pm the Festival draws thousands from the northern California region and beyond. Attendees will want to plan ahead for an opportunity to meet Chef Tom Muromoto, one of Maui’s star chefs, for lively and informative cooking demonstrations and samples. Since a Hawaiian festival is never complete without entertainment, Maui brings Hālau Otea Api to present traditional and modern music and dance. Finally, always wanting to welcome visitors to its Island home, Maui offers a chance for attendees to win a trip for two to the 3rd Annual Kāʻanapali Fresh, a culinary event August 29-31, 2014 in Kāʻanapali Beach Resort on the west side of Maui, Hawai’i.  Chef demonstrations and Hawaiian performances are scheduled three times per day, May 3 and 4 (see below schedule).

Chef Muromoto will present Kona Kampachi three ways – Kona Kampachi tartar, Spicy Kona Kapachi bowl, and Kona Kampachi ceviche with pineapple salsa. Kona Kampachi is a designer yellowtail bred in in deep waters offshore of Kona, Hawai’i, the Hawaiian island located south of Maui. Kona Kampachi has been dubbed the ‘wonder fish’. Learn more here. Among its most redeeming qualities – Kona Kampachi is not genetically engineered. It is sashimi grade and sustainably farmed without hormones or prophylactic antibiotics. Kona Kampachi is also rich in omega-3 and has no detectable mercury.

The general public is invited to taste Chef Muromoto’s dishes and learn more about Kona Kampachi. In addition, Maui Gold Pineapple will be served after each chef demonstration. Throughout the day attendees may enter to win a trip for two to Kāʻanapali Fresh, a culinary festival scheduled August 29 – 31, 2014. The prize includes round-trip transportation for two from San Jose or Oakland, California to Kahului, Maui courtesy of Alaska Airlines, three nights’ accommodations at Kāʻanapali Beach Hotel, Maui’s most Hawaiian Hotel, and two tickets to the farm to table dinner on Saturday, August 30.
